Reflexology

Duties and Responsibilities: Reflexology is an alternative form of treatment involving the application of pressure to different parts of the body to improve general health. A Reflexologist treats pain by massaging their patient’s hand, feet, and ears to relieve stress.

Salary: $35,000 annually

Education: There is really no specific academic qualification that is required. Someone who wants to work in this career can have a high school diploma and pass their biology, chemistry, nutrition, and health courses. They can also attend a private school to help them.

Reflection: No, I would not like to become a reflexologist because it seems kind of boring and I don’t think that I would like it. The pay isn't very well either.

What James Freeman is trying to say is that, later on in life, your actions from the present can affect you. If you do the right thing now and then your future consequences will be positive. But, if you do the bad things now, then it can affect you negatively in the future. You decide your own future by the actions that you decide to do today. 

Teacher

Duties and Responsibilities: A teacher manages and organizes a classroom that is conductive to learning and development. They organize daily lessons aligned to their schools curriculum and they teach to the students.

Salary: $55,360 annually

Educational Requirements: To become a teacher you must have a high school diploma as well as enroll in a college and earn a degree. A teacher must also complete a teacher certification program and advance in the field that they want to teach in.

Reflection: Yes, I would like to become a teacher. I would mostly want to work with kids that are in kindergarten because I love taking care of children. This also seems like a fun job and I think that I would really enjoy being a teacher.

I think that this statement means that, if you begin to guide yourself in the right path at this point in your life, then your life will continue being good later on and you won’t have to worry about your future ending up ruined.

“Bless You”

Saying “Bless You” was originated thousands of years ago. It was attributed by Pope Gregory the Great who uttered it during the Bubonic Plague Epidemic. The idea of a sneeze is usually perceived as an illness and people say “Bless You” as a way of wishing people good health. It’s basically just a good health wish that is said amongst people.

What Alexander Pope is trying to say is that, if you do what is right, you will also be known as a very honorable person. You will always be respected by other people and they will want to be like you and that is a good influence for other surrounding you. 

Environmental Health Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities: These type of specialists specialize in monitor health and safety conditions in residential, industrial, commercial, and recreational settings. They may collect samples of soil and other substances from the places they inspect and test if there are any hazardous substances in the area.

Salary: $37,300 to $57,551 per year

Educational requirements: This career requires at least a bachelor’s degree as well as courses in chemistry, biology, public health, physical sciences, and environmental engineering. They must also be licensed by the National Environmental Health Association.

Reflection: I would like to become an environmental health specialist because it seems like a very interesting job. I would like to help people have a safe environment and not be at risk of getting sick.

What George Washington is trying to say in this inspiring statement is that, if you care about your reputation, you should hang out or associate with the people that have a good reputation. If you hang out with people who are bad company for you, you will eventually be known as bad company as well. He also says that it would be better for you to be alone than to have people have you known as bad company because of the people you associate yourself with.

Presidents Day

Presidents Day is a holiday celebrated every third Monday of February. It was originally established in 1885 in recognition to George Washington, our first president. It was traditionally celebrated on the 22 of February, but it was moved to the third Monday of February to recognition the other presidents we have also had so far. A few ways to show honor on presidents day are by forming groups and reenacting the events occurred on Presidents Day, and teachers can also honor the holiday by teaching their students about this event in history.

What Arnold Glasgow is trying to tell us is that, if you don’t have goals, you won’t get anywhere in life. Your goals are the key to get us motivated to do the things you want in life and if you don’t have goals, you will just be another person who doesn't think they’re good enough to accomplish their dreams.

Evolution of Basketball

In December 1891 basketball was invented. It was invented by Canadian James W. Naismith, an instructor at a YMCA in Massachusetts. He made this game so that he could keep his students fit and warm during the winters in New England. Back then there were 13 rules and those rules still remain the same today. In the beginning only men played but in 1892, the first woman’s game of basketball was played. Today, basketball is different because more people watch it than they did before and many new rules were added. Basketball is a very popular game nowadays and it is played all around the world.

When Count Leo Tolstoy says this, I think that he means that, the people that are good and choose the right in everything they do will live a good life even if it’s short. But people that lie a bad life, they might live a long one, but they won’t really live happy like the ones who good.

Veterinarian

Duties and Responsibilities: A veterinarian is a doctor for pets. They give vaccines, do health check-ups, and clean teeth along with many other things.

Salary: $86,640

Education: To become a veterinarian you must complete a four year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. You must also have a bachelor’s degree and get licensed by the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam.

                                                              

                     

Reflection: I would like to become a veterinarian because it seems like a fun job to have. I love having pets around me and working with them would be great.

I think that this statement means that, even if many people are doing something that is popular, you shouldn't do it just because it’s popular; you should think twice to yourself and establish if it’s right or not. If something is right but it’s not popular you should do it anyway because you will feel good and even though you’re not doing what the “popular crowd” is doing, you will know its right and you won’t regret doing it.

Western Medicine Doctor

Duties and Responsibilities: A Western medicine doctor specializes in treatment with medications. This type of medicine treats people with industrialized medicine.

Salary: $187,000 annually

Education: To become a Western medicine doctor you must have a degree in medicine and pass all the college courses needed. They must also be certified.

                                                                          

Reflection: I would not like to have this job because it doesn't seem like the type of job I see myself doing in the future. I also think that I wouldn't be able to correctly complete the tasks that this job requires me to do.
