Chinese (Oriental) Medicine
Duties and Responsibilities: Oriental medicine practitioners
use forms of acupuncture and treatment through the concept of “qi” which means
energy in Chinese. They treat varieties of ailments including headaches, back
pains, arthritis and other illnesses.
Salary: $61,000 per year
Education: Education and training requirements vary for each
state. Some practitioners get licensed to be physicians but later take classes
to become certified in oriental medicine. You must have a bachelor’s degree in
biology or in another medical field, and then you must fill the state
requirement to practice oriental medicine. You must also be certified by the
National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Reflection: No I would not like to become an oriental
medicine practitioner because it doesn't seem like the job that is fit for me.
I don’t think that’s what I want to spend the rest of my life doing.
